Awards Season and Classic Hair

Happy Awards Season!! Yes, the holidays are over and now we enter two months of celebrating pop culture – the best of television, theater, movies, and music, which is all great to see. Arguably one of the best parts of any show is actually the red carpet. Every interviewer asks, “Who are you wearing tonight?” The standout celebrities can be dressed and styled really wild and crazy but the ones that are loved and embraced without question are those embracing the classics. Classics are always in and classic hair is always in style.

The AFI Awards

Awards Season kicks off today with the American Film Institute (AFI) Awards – a ceremony dedicated to movies and TV shows that are significant to today’s culture. This year’s winners include Black Panther, A Quiet Place, A Star is Born, and This is Us. It also includes the AFI Life Achievement Award which goes to an individual whose career in motion pictures or television has greatly contributed to the enrichment of American culture.

Jake

Each person that has won can be deemed “classic” – they have set the standard for future generations. Denzel Washington, Steve Martin, Jane Fonda, Shirley MacLaine, Morgan Freeman, Warren Beatty, Sean Connery, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks; there could not be a more impressive list of winners.

Classy & Sassy

Our culture is always moving forward and embracing new ideas but there is something to be said about embracing the standard. Why is George Clooney always on the list of “Best Dressed?” Because he’s like Jake here – put together, sharp, and handsome. He doesn’t do anything wild, but he does classic very well. He sets the standard.

Old-Hollywood waves and sharp parts and are iconic. They set the standard and will always be in style. Look at Christina Aguilera when she was a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Old-school, big, dramatic Hollywood hair in a light pink shade and a floor length gown covered in diamonds complete with a pink, furry shawl draped over her arms. Classic hair fits any occasion and you can do anything with your outfit at that point.

Setting the Standard

It works and trust us, classic isn’t going anywhere. Society will continue moving forward and celebrities will keep pushing boundaries but you can always bet on seeing classic hair at an awards show.
