How Did Your Hair Get So Bright?
If you enjoy a vivid hair color IG post as much as I do (hello #mermaidhair), surely you’ve heard of Olaplex – the revolutionary bond building system seemingly responsible for those brilliant hair color transformations.
There are 3 steps to this Olaplex game. According to the brand’s website, Olaplex No. 1 Bond Multiplier is added to lightener, color, or chemical treatments to rebuild the disulfide bonds which are broken from bleaching and “begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair.” If you’re like me and you have no idea what that means, here is a simple break down.
- Disulfide bonds are what keeps the hair shaft together. They are damaged when your hair is chemically treated and why it needs to be repaired.
- Next, your Salon Pro applies No. 2 Bond Perfecter at the shampoo bowl to “rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds ensuring the strongest, shiniest, and healthiest hair possible.” Meaning, the product is taking a second look to make sure they didn’t miss any of those broken bonds the first time around.
- The final step is No. 3, a take home treatment to ensure “continuous protection from ongoing damage at home.” This is your at home maintenance to keep everything intact.
But My Hair is Healthy!
What if your hair isn’t over processed and you trim your ends every 6 – 8 weeks? That’s great! But if your hair is shoulder length or longer – it’s old. Like 2-3 years old.
Over the past 2 – 3 years, your “healthy’ hair has endured 2-3 summers of UV exposure, 12 – 16 peroxide or color applications and nearly 730 blowouts. And let’s not even talk about your flat iron addiction.
Olaplex Before and After
Recently we visited our Bubbles Hair Salon in Reston to test the results of an Olaplex treatment on Melissa’s “healthy” hair.
Bubbles Reston Salon Pro Katherine promised Melissa would see movement and mega shine right after her treatment. Ongoing benefits include a stronger, healtier cuticle and increased manageability. Compared to a protein treatment, which lasts 3-5 shampoos, Olaplex lasts up to 8 shampoos.
These pictures are worth 300 words. Melissa’s hair transformed from lifeless to the life of the party. The movement and shine are the obvious results, but it’s the manageability that really stood out for her. Even after a few washes, she finds her hair is easier to brush and style!
Even if you don’t want #unicornhair, you’ll benefit from Olaplex – treatments are available at all Bubbles Hair Salon locations. November 30th – December 2nd, Olaplex in-salon treatments are $10 off!
